Director of Volleyball Operations – Charlie Castillo

Born and raised in Miami, FL. Played high school volleyball at Miami Sunset Senior High where he was named MVP of the team and selected as one of the top 6 players in Miami dade county his senior year by the Miami Herald. Played collegiate volleyball at Florida International University.

Started his coaching career in 2005 coaching club volleyball at Volleyball Players Academy (Miami, FL.). Moved to Estero, FL. In 2010 where he began working with USA South. After three years at South he moved on to coach Division 1 Volleyball at Florida Atlantic University (Boca Raton, FL.) from from 2012-2014. While at FAU Charlie was the recruiting coordinator and top assistant. Within those two years he helped turn the program around into a conference championship contender in Conference USA. After 2 years of collegiate coaching, charlie decided to return to USA South and lead our program. He has qualified 6 USA South teams to USAV Nationals and trained multiple USA South athletes to reach collegiate programs.

 

Coach Celio Camargo Jr. is an internationally known Olympic level volleyball coach. He was an assistant to the women’s Brazilian National Team in the Sydney Olympics. Today, Coach Celio uses his incredible volleyball knowledge and contacts to prepare our players at USA South Volleyball to play at the next level. During his time at USA South, he has helped develop over 55 collegiate athletes. In addition, he has worked with and developed international professional volleyball athletes.
In addition to developing our veteran athletes, Coach Celio is also the Director for our Little Spikers program. In this role, he is responsible for training and developing our future stars. Working with these young athletes at such an early age provides a significant competitive advantage as they develop their volleyball playing skills.
Coach Celio has incredible experience and knowledge that is having a tremendous impact on our community and volleyball throughout the USA.  We are honored and excited to have him with USA South Volleyball!

 

Recruiting Coordinator – Daniel Mahy

Coach Danny Mahy began his coaching career when he was 17 years old as a student assistant coach for his high school girls team.  This led to the opportunity to be an assistant coach at Miami-Dade College where he won back to back National Championships.  In 2003, Coach Danny joined the coaching staff at FGCU where he remains to this day.  In that same year, Coach Danny joined USA South Volleyball.
During his 15 years at USA South, Coach Danny has won 20 in state tournament championships, won 5 USAV National Qualifiers tournaments, qualified for the USAV Nationals 9 separate times, and finished third in the 2014 AAU National Championships.  His experience coaching for USA South and at the collegiate level help make him an excellent recruiting coordinator for USA South.
